Fishin’ Frenzy The Big Catch Megaways™ is the latest incarnation of the hugely-popular Fishin’ Frenzy video slot by Blueprint Gaming. Although extremely similar to the original Megaways™ version, this game has a brand-new feature that could potentially multiply your winnings.
Fishin’ Frenzy The Big Catch Megaways™ is the latest addition to Blueprint Gaming’s über-successful Fishin’ Frenzy slot series. It runs on the Big Time Gaming-developed Megaways™ mechanic, and comes with 15,625 ways to win and an RTP of 95.02%.
The game itself feels pretty much the same as the original Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways™: they both have 6×5 grid, medium volatility, a 50,000x-your-bet max win, free spins, and, obviously, a fishing-inspired theme.
The biggest difference in Fishin’ Frenzy The Big Catch Megaways™ is that collecting four fisherman symbols during the Free Spins feature will also upgrade the multipliers on the fish symbols. This is what lends the name ‘The Big Catch’.
So, yes, this game is hardly Blueprint’s most innovative or original serving, but those who love the original title may want to read on to see if it’s worth shifting to this newer version.

Fishin’ Frenzy The Big Catch Megaways™ shares many of its features with those of the original Megaways™ game in the series. To make things easier to follow, we still list all the features you can expect below.
For those wondering, however, both games forfeited the Cascading Reels feature, while the Bonus Buy feature may only be available at some online casinos (though not in the UK, where the feature is banned).
The Fishin’ Frenzy The Big Catch Megaways™ base game does not really hold any special features. In fact, you won’t even find a wild symbol here to replace the other symbols in a winning combination. Nevertheless, there is a scatter symbol, which is represented by the fishing vessel scatter.
Landing three, four, five, or six of these symbols on the reels will result in 10, 15, 25, or 50 free spins.
Things change somewhat once you enter the Free Spins feature, though.
Once you land the free spins, the fishing vessel scatter is replaced by the fisherman symbol, which holds three functions:
The first is that of the Wild, which means that it replaces any symbol in a potentially winning combination.
The second is that it is the catalyst for the bonus game. As you may notice during the base game, some fish symbols come with greyed-out multiplier values, which can range from x2 to 500x. Once the free spins are launched, landing a fisherman symbol will result in the fish symbols being collected and their joint multiplier value will be paid out to you based on your stake-per spin.
It’s good to note that if you land two or more fisherman symbols in the same round, then each of those fishermen will collect all the fish on the reels, thus multiplying your wins even further.
Thirdly, you can collect these fisherman symbols, and we see why just below.
The biggest difference from the original Megaways™ game in this series is that collecting four fisherman symbols will upgrade the value of the fish symbols’ multipliers. This can lead to quite big wins as the x2 fish multiplier becomes x10, while the x5 becomes x15, and so on.
This value remains in place for the duration of the free spins, and you can follow your progress in collecting fisherman symbols through the Awards box to the left of the grid.
It gets better though, as it’s possible to collect four fisherman symbols twice over. If you do manage to do this, all the fish multipliers will become at least x50 each.
The Fishin’ Frenzy The Big Catch Megaways™ RTP is 95.02%, which is on the lower side for most slots in our Megaways™ catalogue. This is coupled with medium volatility, which means you will probably receive small to average payouts on an infrequent basis.
The max win potential for this game is 50,000x your stake up to €/£/$250,000. Having said that, we’re not entirely sure how that can be achieved through the bonus features, as you’d need quite a lot of fish symbols to manage it!
The Fishin’ Frenzy The Big Catch Megaways™ slot has a rather large array of possible stakes, starting from just €/£/$0.10 per spin, which places it firmly amongst our best low stake Megaways™ slots. Yet the highest possible stake per spin is €/£/$100, which makes this game fantastic for high-rollers, too.
As the name suggests, this game is a fishing-themed one, which comes across in every element of the Megaways™ slot: the simple, yet pretty underwater background, the fantastically appropriate symbols, and the themed bonus features.
In terms of design and user experience, there is no faulting this Blueprint creation. Each spin is seamless, and all the buttons are clearly marked and exactly where you’d expect them to be.
One of the things we realised when working on our Fishin’ Frenzy The Big Catch Megaways™ slot review is just how many symbols this game has. But don’t let that confuse you, as most of them don’t require much thought at all.
The lowest-paying symbols are the ones based on the card suits, with 10, J, Q, K, and A all making a cameo. In this case, however, the 10, J, and Q all pay the same amounts (0.3x when lining up three; up to 2.5x for six), while the K and A pay between 0.5x for three symbols and 5x for six symbols.
These are then followed by the Fishing Tackle Box and the Lifebuoy, which pay exactly the same amount (up to 50x for six symbols), the Fishing Rod (up to 100x for six symbols), and the Pelican, which pays an astonishing 200x for lining up six of it.
There are also three special symbols in this game. The Fish symbols pay set amounts in the base game, so landing three, four, five, or six of these symbols will award you with 1x, 3x, 5x, and 10x your stake. As we have seen in the Features section above, however, this changes during the free spins.
Then there is the base scatter symbol, which is the fishing vessel scatter. Three or more of these will award you up to 50 free spins. During that feature, the fisherman symbol will act as both the wild and the scatter.
The Fishin’ Frenzy The Big Catch Megaways™ slot was created using HTML5, which means it can easily be played on desktop and smart mobile devices that run on iOS, Android, and Windows.
You can play it directly on your mobile phone’s browser, of course, but there are also Megaways™ mobile apps that carry this game!
Ready to take the game for a spin? Here’s how simple it is to play:
If you don’t feel like manually pressing the Spin button every couple of seconds, then the game has a great auto-play feature. To set it up, choose your stake per spin and then click on the Auto-Spin button. Once there, pick the number of auto-plays, your session loss limit, and the single win limit.
Pros
Cons
Had Fishin’ Frenzy The Big Catch Megaways™ been a stand-alone game, then we’d have certainly been huge fans: the graphics are great, the bonus features are cool, and the theme is super fun. Yet, as the sequel to an iconic title in our Megaways™ slots list, we can’t help but feel that this game doesn’t bring anything new to the table. Even so, it’s worth trying out, especially if you love the original!
