What Is Judge and Jury Megaways™ Slot?

If you can’t resist a good, suspenseful movie scene set in a court of justice, before a grand jury, then you’ll be a fan of Skywind’s brand-new launch, Judge and Jury Megaways™! Set to hit the reels on the 3rd June 2022, it is a high-volatility title with up to 117,649 ways to win.

Although Skywind Group is a smaller studio, it’s licensed in the most important European jurisdictions, such as Malta and Italy. A lesser-known fact is that it’s also a major supplier of premium casino content, including popular Megaways™ slots, such as Big Buffalo Megaways™ and 8 Tigers Gold Megaways™.

Judge and Jury Megaways™ approaches the crime and justice theme with keen attention to detail – a sober judge overlooks the main reels from the side, waits for them to spin and gives a verdict.

Furthermore, thanks to a licensing deal with Big Time Gaming, gamblers get access to a dynamic payline configuration, plus iconic features for Megaways™ slots, such as cash prizes, free games and win cascades!

Ready for your first day in court? Let’s see what’s in store for you in our Judge and Jury Megaways™ slot review!

Judge and Jury Megaways™ Bonus Features

Judge and Jury Megaways™ Bonus Features

(Source: Skywind)

Skywind’s take on the law and order format is superb, not just in terms of visuals and authenticity, but also in terms of bonus features.

The judge is the main focus of the slot, his role being to give comments on the player’s ”guilty” status and trigger two random bonuses in the base game. Skywind further upped the originality with the introduction of wanted posters that trigger fixed-value cash prizes and an I.D. parade feature.

The game is packed with twists and turns at every corner, plus a total of 7 bonus features. The further you advance into the game, the clearer your verdict becomes!

Win Cascades

While the court is in session, the base game is enriched by the cascading reels mechanic. When a winning combination registers, the symbols involved explode, get removed and new ones fall from above. This leads to chain reactions facilitating multiple wins with a single spin.

The cascades only stop when no more winning combinations form – this engine is also active during all the bonus rounds.

Judge Modifiers

The stern judge on the left side of the reels is not there just for comedic purposes or realism, although he does ask the player if they solemnly swear to tell nothing but the truth, not to mention other courtroom comments. This vibrant character also rewards the player with 2 random bonuses or modifiers during the base game:

  • Removes all playing card symbols (9, 10, Q, J, K and A) if the gambler has a non-winning spin, resulting in a board filled with premium symbols only
  • Adds between 3-6 random wild symbols anywhere on the reels

Wanted Posters

What better way to showcase the cops & robbers genre than using wanted posters? On the right of the screen, there is a wanted poster, and the person depicted changes with every spin. If you land an identical poster on the main reels, you’ll receive a cash prize of 2x, 5x, 10x, 100x or 5,000x your stake.

Once you get your payout, the poster symbol is removed and a win reaction occurs. You can land posters during both the base game and the bonus rounds, but unfortunately, they don’t come with any win multipliers, so their value stays fixed.

Free Spins

The game’s scatter symbol is a Judge & Jury pink logo. To trigger free games, you need to land at least 4 scatters anywhere on the reels, which will reward you with 10 free spins. Each additional scatter after will also increase the number of extra games, like so:

  • 3 additional scatters – 5 free games
  • 4 additional scatters  – 10 free games

The maximum number of free games you can trigger is capped at 20. A progressive win multiplier applies to all of your wins during the free spins – it starts at 1x and increases by +1 for every winning cascade.

I.D. Parade Feature

If, during the free spins, you land 3 cell symbols, you will launch the I.D. Parade feature, which is a pick-and-click type of bonus game. A list of four suspects will be displayed on the screen and you receive different picks, depending on how many cell symbols triggered the feature, as such:

  • 3 cell symbols – 1 pick
  • 4 cell symbols – 2 picks
  • 5 cell symbols – 3 picks
  • 6 cell symbols – 4 picks

Depending on the result of your picks, you can receive 3, 5 or 10 extra spins, a 3x, 5x or 10x boost to the multiplier value, or cash prizes ranging from 5x to 100x your stake.

Bonus Buy

For players outside of the UK, there is a bonus buy feature offered as well. This allows you to make a single payment of 80x your stake and trigger the Free Spins feature instantly. Depending on the number of scatters that land on the next spin, you can receive 10,15 or 20 free games.

Double Chance Feature

There is also a Double Chance feature or an ante bet that players can use. As suggested by the name, turning it on doubles your chances of triggering free games. However, you also have to pay 25% more on your spin.

The feature can only be used during the base game and cannot be activated during free spins.

Judge and Jury Megaways™ RTP, Volatility & Win Potential

Judge and Jury Megaways™ follows the recipe of most well-known Megaways™ slots in terms of variance and RTP (Return-To-Player). It has a high volatility score of 4/5 according to Skywind Group’s own ratings, which translates into a potential for big value wins, but they take a longer time to trigger. The RTP is set at 96.50%.

The only major critique we can bring is that the maximum win is capped at only 10,000x your stake, which is much lower than other video slots we analyse on our website. That means you can win between €2,000- €2,000,000, depending on your stake value.

Judge and Jury Megaways™ Stakes & Betting Range

On the flip side, Judge and Jury Megaways™ has one of the largest betting ranges we’ve seen, making it equally fit for a budget player and a high roller – the minimum stake is €0.2 and the maximum stake is €200.

Theme, Slot Design & User Experience

Judge and Jury Megaways™ has all the elements of an authentic day at the courtroom – there are wanted posters spread around, book shelves and curtains in the background. A welcome addition is the judge, a lively character that interacts with the player at every step and urges him to plead his case and tell the truth.

The main reels and the bonus reel exemplify both sides of the law – there are cops and robbers, stolen items and handcuffs, all rendered in vibrant colors, with a golden shine. A surprising touch comes from the soundtrack, with jazz music resonating in the background.

This style of music seems a bit odd in the context of the strictness of a real-life courtroom, but it works strangely well for the slot and creates a solid contrast, so we must applaud Skywind for the originality.

Paytable & Special Symbols

From handcuffs to safes full of money, all the special symbols found in Judge and Jury Megaways™ are meant to complete the justice theme. Here they are, along with the rankings:

  • Playing cards from 9 to A – low-value symbols, pay between 8-20x for 6 of a kind
  • Handcuffs – pay up to 30x your stake for 6 of a kind
  • Safe – pays up to 40x your stake for 6 of a kind
  • Thief – pays up to 50x your stake for 6 of a kind
  • Cop – pays up to 75x your stake for 6 of a kind

  • Prisoner in a cell – 3 of these icons trigger the I.D. Parade feature

How to Play/Win Judge and Jury Megaways™ Slot

Judge and Jury Megaways™ follows a layout of 6 main reels with a horizontal row above, that can hold up to 4 symbols. Because of the Megaways™ engine, the configuration of paylines changes constantly.

Reels 1-6 display between 2-7 symbols, whilst reels 2-5 display between 2-6 symbols on any given spin. The game can produce between 324-117,649 ways to win.

To trigger a winning combination, you need to land a minimum of 3 matching symbols in any position, from left to right, on adjacent reels.

There are 2 wild symbols to pay attention to once you advance in the game, as they substitute other symbols and help you form winning combinations: a blue siren (only appears on the main reels) and a red siren (only appears on the top reel).

When you open the game window, on the left side of the screen, you will see the two paid bonus features that you can activate: buy in and double chance, plus their subsequent costs.

You can also play without activating either, and set your stakes using the ”+” and ”-” buttons on the lower-right corner.

The classic gaming modes Autoplay and Turbo are also present in case you want to speed up your spins or let the slot run on its own.

Judge and Jury Megaways™ Slot Review Verdict

Judge and Jury Megaways™ brings an original approach to the courtroom, as we are sentenced to a fun and rewarding experience! Gamblers are invited to be the prosecutor, the convicted, and the jury at various points in the game, once they advance through the extras and listen to the judge’s commentary.

It’s definitely one of the most feature-rich titles in Skywind’s portfolio; the base game keeps us agile and focused with the win reactions and judge modifiers, while the rest of our court day is filled with unlimited win multipliers and bonus games.

The only small downsides we can mention are the low maximum payout and the slightly outdated visuals.  All things considered, our rating is definitely favourable!
